Terms of Service

Effective June 2025

Alpha software. P-Sphere is experimental and under active development. By using it, you acknowledge it may be unstable, incomplete, and subject to breaking changes without notice.

1. Acceptance

By downloading, installing, or using P-Sphere ("the Software"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Software. These Terms apply to all versions of P-Sphere including the Android application, Core server, Vision Worker, and Web UI.

2. Nature of the software

P-Sphere is a self-hosted application. You run it on your own hardware. Your photos and metadata remain on your own devices. We have no access to your data and cannot view, modify, or delete any content you store in P-Sphere. You are responsible for your own infrastructure, backups, security, and data integrity.

3. Alpha disclaimer

P-Sphere is in alpha stage. The software is not production-ready and may contain significant bugs. Features may be incomplete, broken, or removed without notice. Data loss is possible — bugs or migrations could result in loss of photos or metadata. The API and configuration format may change in breaking ways between releases.

You must keep independent backups of all photos you care about. Do not rely on P-Sphere as your only photo backup during alpha.

4. Permitted use

You may use P-Sphere for personal, non-commercial use on hardware you own or control, and for evaluation and testing purposes.

You may not redistribute, sublicense, sell, or commercially exploit P-Sphere without written permission; use P-Sphere to store or distribute illegal content; reverse-engineer or extract proprietary source code beyond what is explicitly shared; remove or obscure copyright notices; or use P-Sphere in any way that violates applicable laws.

5. Intellectual property

P-Sphere and all associated source code, designs, documentation, and assets are the intellectual property of the P-Sphere authors. All rights are reserved except as stated in the License. Your photos and personal data remain entirely your own. We claim no rights over content you store in P-Sphere.

6. Privacy

Because P-Sphere is self-hosted, we do not collect, process, or store any of your personal data. The app does not communicate with any server operated by us. All network communication occurs between your own devices on your local network.

7. Third-party services

P-Sphere can optionally integrate with third-party AI services you configure and run yourself (Ollama, LM Studio, etc.). These integrations are at your discretion. P-Sphere is not responsible for the terms or behaviour of those services.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE IS WITH YOU. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR FREE FROM SECURITY VULNERABILITIES.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE P-SPHERE AUTHORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGE.

10. Changes

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated via the project repository. We also reserve the right to change, suspend, or discontinue the Software at any time.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by applicable laws. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the applicable courts.
